
A R Rahman Gets Double Grammy Nominations for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’
Music director A R Rahman has received 2 Grammy nominations for this year’s awards. The ‘Mozart of Madras’ as he is called, had earlier won 2 awards’; namely the Best Original Score and Best Original Song at this years Oscar for his effort in multiple Oscar winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ (2008). The music director who continues to get nominations for awards for his musical score in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, this time has been nominated for the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media and Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media respectively. This is AR Rahman's first Grammy award nomination once again for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
This Grammy Award nomination comes as a shot in the arm for A R Rahman; who’s first complete Hollywood project ‘Couples Retreat’ released in October 2009 and has already become a box office success. Apart from A R Rahman; other musicians and singers who have received multiple nominations at this years Grammy Awards include Beyonce Knowles with 10 nominations, Taylor Swift with 8 nominations, Kayne West with 6 nominations, and keith Urban with 4 nominations. The Grammys awards are to be given out on Jan 31, 2010.
