James Cameron Releasing 'Avatar' With 10 Minute New Footage!!!

Looks like Hollywood director James Cameron has been hurt by the fact that 'Avatar' the film which he made for 10 yrs had won just 3 minor Oscars. Now James Cameron, who is also the co-producer of the film plans to re-launch 'Avatar' coming summer with never-before-scenes. According to reports these never-before-scenes were selected from 40 minutes earlier deleted scenes.

20th Century Fox that released ‘Avatar’ worldwide, plans to make more money from the film which has made over US$2.34 billion till now. James Cameron who will be scene in India to attend the India Today Conclave said "The wildcard is that we might be re-releasing the movie this fall. It's kind of gotten stomped out in theaters because of 'Alice in Wonderland'. The word we're getting back from exhibitors is we probably left a couple of hundred million dollars on the table as a result." tfc18.com few days back reported that 'Alice in Wonderland' has broken several records created by ‘Avatar’. As such realizing that audience may lose their appetite to watch an old film James Cameron said "The question is the appetite still going to be there after the summer glut of movies. We're going to assess that. We're talking about maybe adding in additional footage and doing something creative."

James Cameron further said “About 10-12 minutes of that footage could be quickly put through post-production and be ready to add to a director’s cut for a theatrical reissue or as an extra on the DVD release”. IMAX head Richard Gelfond said “The helmer has 40 additional minutes at his disposal” and plan to re-release the film in summer or fall "when there's less competition." However a 2-D DVD version of ‘Avatar’ will be released in April or May this year. ‘Avatar’ it may be known is a 160 minute long film. However only 10 minutes of additional scenes can be added as an IMAX format release movie can run for maximum 170 minutes. However its not a problem for DVD premiere of ‘Avatar’ in 2-D by May. James Cameron however just cant get over 3D effects. Now he plans to re-release a 3-D theatrical version of ‘Titanic’ by 2012; to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the iconic ship ‘RMS Titanic’s doomed maiden voyage. However he continues to criticize the studios trying to convert every movie into 3-D thus reducing 3-Ds potential with respect to enhancing movie-going experience.
