Plot:

Nitin Banker (Akshay Kumar) is a butler, cook, driver, watchman and gardener to a wealthy female industrialist(Archana puran singh)in Singapore. Nitin Banker wants a better life and marry the love of his life, Anjali Kakkad (Katrina Kaif), who supports him financially. Ram Mishra (Sunil Shetty) Nitin's best friend, who came to Singapore to become rich and marry Manpreet Oberoi (Sameera Reddy), is a courier deliveryman. But her high society parents disapprove Ram, unless he makes pots of money. How Nitin and Ram make money and win their love is the film about.

Overall synopsis:

Nitin Banker (Akshay Kumar) is a butler, cook, driver, watchman and gardener to a wealthy female industrialist (Archana Puran Singh) in Singapore. Nitin Banker wants to marry the love of his life, Anjali (Katrina Kaif), meanwhile his friend Ram Mishra (Sunil Shetty) a courier deliveryman, who came to Singapore to become rich and wants to marry Manpreet (Sameera Reddy). Harbans Chadda (Paresh Rawal), a businessman on the other hand wants to multiply his income and avoid debtors, decides to marry off his son (Chunky Pandey) to a girl whose parents can give him huge dowry. So he chooses Manpreet Oberoi as his bahu.
Meanwhile when both Nitin and Ram get ultimatums from their girlfriends, they plan to kidnap a rich person hoping to get a ransom and achieve their dreams. They do succeed in kidnapping, and hide at a hotel while waiting for the ransom money. But by misfortune Manpreet’s wedding reception to Harbans son is also in the same hotel. Soon they are joined by a hindi speaking Chinese don (Asrani), a hired assassin (Johny Lever), a police inspector (Sharat Saxena), a club dancer (Neha Dhupia), a letch (Shakti Kapoor), a drunken waiter (Rajpal Yadav), an ambassador (Vikram Gokhale), a double-crossing wife (Aditi Govitrikar) all getting involved one by one, this leads to one problem after another and the kidnapping spirals out of control leading to numerous hilarious situations.

Performances:

Akshay Kumar, as always performs best in a Priyadarshan film. Similarly Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal have also given natural acting performances as they have done in previous Priyadarshan films.Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy are okay in this slapstick comedy but they didn't have much to do. Other actors including Johny Lever, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Joshi, Asrani, Vikram Gokhale and Archana Puran Singh have given commendable performance in a mad caper film considering they did not much scope to show their talent.

Technical Values:

'De Dana Dan’ by Priyadarshan the director of other hilarious films like ‘Hulchul’, ‘Hungama’ and ‘Chupchup Ke’ is a wild mad caper. The director has shot almost an entire film in a hotel, for which he should be credited, as he to pulled off some outrageous situations in such way that viewers will surely break into laughter. The last scene where the whole hotel is flooded is a special watch, for its shooting value. Pritam's. musicis good and Salim-Sulaiman's background score is energetic. K Ahambaram's cinematography is perfect. The dialogue writer Jay Master has written some hilariously witty and humorous dialogues

Conclusion:

‘De Dana Dan’ is erratic and lethargic at places, where the director has tried to bring all his characters in the film together in hilarious situations. Though the film needs to be shortened, director Priyadarshan’s attempt to give all his characters, some footage cant be ignored. And established actors have learned to perform in his films, even for bit roles as they are watched by the director Priyadarshan’s prime target the masses. On the whole, De Dana Dan is a madcap entertainer but lacks clarity.
