New Trailor of ‘Ishqiya’ Released. Film Partly Being Reshot
A new trailor of ‘Ishqiya’ starring acting genius Arshad Warsi, Vidya Balan and the acting stalwart Naseeruddin Shah has been released. The film ‘Ishqiya’ set in eastern Uttar Pradesh, is being directed by debutant director Abhishek Chaubey, a Vishal Bharadwaj prodigy; and is about two banditsKhalujan(Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi) fall in love with their old friend’s widow Krishna (Vidya Balan) while on the run from their boss, Mushtaq (Salman Shahid). Though by age difference the two bandits are better off as uncle and nephew, the two try to woe the widow in their own way, Khalujan with his vision of old-fashioned love and Babban with his vision of lascivious heart.
As they plan their escape in the face of imminent death, the time they spent together, and the consequences arising out of the situation is the premise of ‘Ishqiya’. The film being produced by Raman Maroo of Shemaroo and Vishal Bharadwaj was scheduled to release in December, 2009; but apparently some parts of the film are being reshot, as the language of the film was deemed too abusive, by a focus group. They have asked Vishal Bhardwaj who is also known to use abusive language in films directed by him like ‘Omkara’ and ‘Kaminey’ to be present when the film is being edited. Apparently the film was shown to a focus group, but the heavy use of abusive language made some of the women in the audience uncomfortable. As such the film’s release has been delayed to either January 22nd, 2010 or mid-2010.
The focus groups are a certain audience who watch films and give their opinion on it. If they feel that there are some things that could be changed about the film, the changes are made. This is a common phenomenon in Hollywood but has only just entered Bollywood.
