Sorry for the title, friends. Everybody knows that when Amitabh Bachchan was facing a financial crisis, when he did ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ for 2 seasons on Star TV. For each season he was paid Rs 64 Crores each time, which helped him tied over his financial problems. However this time whatever the case, Bollywood’s greatest megastar Amitabh Bachchan is again getting ready to return to TV or reality TV after 4 years. According to reports Amitabh Bachchan who had earlier hosted the ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ I&II will host the 3rd season of popular reality TV show 'Bigg Boss' on Colors' TV; replacing Shilpa Shetty, who hosted the show last season. Shilpa Shetty, had won the 2007 'Big Brother' that raked up racial controversy.
'Bigg Boss' is the Indian version of the popular British reality show 'Big Brother', and has celebrity contestants locked into a house under surveillance for 90 days without any contact with the outside world, at a secluded bungalow in Lonavala, Maharastra. As with other reality shows’ 'Bigg Boss' also has periodic eliminations based on voting by housemates and audience. Colors' TV, the number 1 channel as per TRP rating which is expected to air the show around December this year, meanwhile is getting ready to telecast the second season of another reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi-Level 2’, a hugely successful show with 13 gorgeous beauties from the field of cinema, television and modeling.
Amitabh Bachchan will be seen on the 'Bigg Boss' TV show on the days of the elimination, and will play the role of a "pop psychologist'' to those in the house members, with intention to add "the human element'' to the reality show. When asked Amitabh Bachchan said "I don't claim to give gyaan or suggest that I can calm things down. My job is only to analyse why people behave in a certain manner in the house. We need to analyse the minds of those on the show and reach out to as many people as possible through it. On eviction day, I will discuss the thought process of that particular contestant.'' Amitabh Bachchan further said "The audience will vote for who they want to see inside the house.''. As for his family "They are happy with whatever makes me happy''.
CEO of the number 1 channel as per TRP rating Colors TV, Rajesh Kamat said "Last season Bigg Boss was hugely popular. This time we wanted to make it more broad based and pan-India so it appeals to people from the ages 4 to 64. Once we decided on Amitabh Bachchan, we worked out the pop-philosopher role for him. The idea was to deconstruct the emotions of those in the house and initiate discussions where we can keep the audience engaged.''
However rumors are that Abhishek Bachchan too has been approached to host a game show on the lines of American TV show Bingo. The matter is still under discussion and likely to finalized by the end of the year.'
